I Can't Hear You: An Examination of the Limitations of Fear-Based Messaging
CARD is pleased to facilitate positive conversations about preparedness. Here are some of the ways in which we work with multiple agencies for practical support and promoting effective dialogue.
Using earthquakes, Shelter-in-Place emergencies or other disaster scenarios, we help agencies test their disaster plans and refresh skills. These exercises provide an opportunity for agencies to update or expand their plans, test Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs), and learn to work effectively with government and other emergency responders.
These community meetings support agencies in building relationships with emergency services staff and with other community organizations. They are an opportunity to share emergency response and disaster preparedness information, share information about community events, learn to develop MOUs, and create partnerships and critical links with agencies providing necessary services.
As we saw with AB 903, it is important that all nonprofits have a voice when it comes to important legislation. CARD acts as a catalyst to increase and facilitate participation by nonprofits in the various processes, as well as to help government departments achieve their goal of serving ALL their constituents well.
