CARD’s Wish List
There are several items which will help us support and build the emergency preparedness and resilience of the agencies we serve. CARD is a 501 (c)3 nonprofit organization.
We would be pleased to discuss how you would like your donation acknowledged in the community.
- USB Computer jump drives (and lots of them!). These tiny, portable computer drives are perfect for nonprofit employees to carry critical emergency preparedness information, and they make off-site storage of critical documents fast and easy. We can pre-load jump drives with information, and offer them to agencies to help them embrace our recommendations.
- Digital Cameras. There are so many uses for digital cameras in preparedness and many of our agencies can use them to help prepare their consumers, staff and volunteers as well. We recommend that our partners use digital cameras to document their belongings; take photos of staff, volunteers and consumers for emergency identification; and use them to make all of their preparedness efforts more fun and visual. If we receive multiple cameras, we could give them to our lead agencies to thank them for their extra efforts and to help them build their capacity to share with other community partners.
- Translation Services. We desperately need help with translation of our materials. We partner with agencies whose consumers and staff are best able (and more comfortable) to learn and share in other languages, and we are getting increased interest from other countries. In particular, we need support with Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish. We are looking to form longterm relationships with multi-lingual people interested in learning our fear-free approach to preparedness. We have volunteer opportunities and some contract work available.
- Interpretation Services. To provide services in the community, in the languages spoken by the community, we are looking for interpreters. Ideally, we are looking for native speakers of various languages to provide interpretations services to our community. Most needed languages include ASL – American Sign Language, Chinese, Spanish and Vietnamese. Must be able to speak and understand English as well.
- Printing Services. CARD offers a wide variety of printed materials to aid community agencies, local businesses and community partners. This includes course materials, wallet cards, Potty Posters, Nudge Notices, emergency preparedness signage, worksheets and a host of other offering that need to be printed.
- Gift cards. Gift cards of all types are welcomed. We encourage agencies to recognize, acknowledge and validate preparedness efforts in tangible ways. We are always grateful to be able to give gift cards to our agencies and participants.
- Technological Overhaul. To stay true to our commitment of keep our offerings low-tech for our primary consumers, and appropriately tailored for our diverse and special needs audiences, CARD needs great computer capacity to handle creating new materials, managing more kinds of software programs and simply managing and handling more information. Further, to increase our emergency readiness, we are tooling our staff to be able to function from off-site locations, and we are equipping our office to support staff with disabilities.
- We need:
- 6 laptops, with cameras
- 3 small, portable printers
- desktop intercom system, with at least 8 stations
- 4 small portable video cameras
- Disaster Supplies – in bulk. Many of the nonprofits and service providers we support have little money for emergency preparedness supplies, and they are ready and eager to accept any of the items listed below to increase their readiness levels and awareness. We would offer these at our trainings and events.
- Flashlights of all sizes (with batteries) or with wind-up power
- Whistles – we prefer the small tube- or cylinder-shaped , loud, high-pitched whistle.
- Lightsticks and flashers of all kinds
- Radios of all kinds — small and portable (with batteries) are most helpful; wind-up and solar options are great too!
- Space Blankets – these lightweight, small, silver miracles are GREAT for our most vulnerable audiences
- Rain Ponchos
- First Aid Kits of all types and sizes
- Swiss Army knives/Leatherman tools/multi-purpose tools
- Duct tape – large, medium, small rolls or flat packs
- Flat wallet magnifying cards
- Bandanas – large, light-colored and cotton are best
Thank you so much for your support!

I noticed you have a number of cameras above on your wish list. Are these items you are still looking to get donations for?
